What everyone should know about stun guns, pepper spray, and other impact and improvised weapons.

A stun gun, pepper spray or improvised weapon in the hands of someone not trained is much like owning a handgun without firearms training or ammunition: extremely ill-advised. Hands-on training from certified instructors is an absolute must. A stun gun can be an extremely effective self-defense tool, and is frequently used by law enforcement to defuse violent situations, provided you have been properly trained. Every citizen, young or old, fragile or strong, can learn proven deployment techniques that allow them to fend off an attack and get away safely.

This 2-hour course begins by discussing when we are vulnerable, recognizing dangerous situations, the moment of extreme exigency and Illinois laws, then moves to the main focus: the stun gun and improvised weapons.

Curriculum includes

• Situational awareness and conditions to avoid
• Extreme exigency and Illinois laws
• Primary sites to target on the human body
• Prohibited areas

The first 25 paid participants receive their own free civilian-version stun gun for personal defense upon completion of the training, a $49.95 value, plus a carrying case valued at $10.00.

Illinois law requires participants to preregister a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Persons taking delivery of the stun gun must be 18 years or older and a current FOID card holder to receive the free stun gun at completion.

A non-refundable deposit (or full payment) is required to secure your spot. You may change your class date once without repaying the deposit. All payments are non-refundable, and missed classes without advance notice may forfeit your registration.
