CCW: Illinois Concealed Firearms Training For Home and Travel (17 Hours)
Illinois Concealed Firearms Training for Home and Travel, the full 17 hour Illinois CCW course.
This course provides an understanding of the law-abiding citizen's right to self-defense. Participants develop the skills and attitudes essential for the safe and effective use of a handgun for the protection of self and family. Coverage includes mental awareness, how to avoid victimization, and mindset development for the use of a firearm when faced with a life threatening encounter.
The course reviews basic gun safety rules for firearms in the home, while traveling and while carrying concealed. It also covers the responsibilities of firearm ownership laws, how to legally travel with a firearm, and the justified use of lethal force. Students are required to participate in both classroom and firearms range activities and to demonstrate basic live-fire handgun proficiency.
An Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification card is recommended but not required. The course assumes the participant already has a basic understanding of firearms and firearm safety and possesses basic firearm use skills. However, very novice shooters are more than welcome and are encouraged to attend. No firearms or ammunition are allowed in the classroom.
This is an approved curriculum by the Illinois State Police and meets all of the Illinois Concealed Carry Curriculum Mandates, covering both the first and second parts.
Classes run most months on a Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
